Set off at 04:30 from Marsa Alam and cross the Eastern Desert by air-conditioned coach (comfort stops en route). In Luxor your guide leads you through the towering columns of the Karnak Temple Complex, along the Alley of Sphinxes and past the famous scarab-beetle statue. A short boat ride across the Nile brings you to the West Bank for a buffet lunch, followed by the cliff-cut Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. Snap photos at the 21-metre Colossi of Memnon, browse a local stone-carving workshop, then enjoy a free bonus stroll on lush Banana Island. Return to Marsa Alam around 21:00 with a head full of pharaonic legends. Price: USD 95 per adult / 60 per child, Monday, Thursday and Friday. Transfers, guide, lunch and all tickets included.
